Amazing authentic Appenzell!

Pros: Very nice historic hotel offering fantastic beds just a few steps from the local railway station (modern train every 30 mins, no noise), delicious appenzeller cheese breakfast, thank you!

Pros: The hotel has an elegant feel of a traditional Swiss house. Our room was lovely and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent - very continental and the coffee was perfect.

Very quaint and nice!

Pros: The staff is amazing! It’s run by a family and they are all so nice! It’s like being at home. Really nice and friendly and very accommodating. And the food is really nice! Small menu but delicious

Cons: A bit old and the WiFi not great specially if you have to work, but otherwise it’s very nice!

A pearl of a hotel

Pros: I chose this hotel principally because of the location, but also on the strength of the reviews and free parking. This is a delightful hotel, cosy and elegant. I instantly received a heartfelt welcome which will stay with me for a long time. I appreciated the dimmer light in the bedroom, comfortable bed and beautiful bedding. Dinner was simply fabulous, and the possibility of ordering smaller portions enabled me to enjoy a main course and dessert. Waking after a good night's sleep (rare for me), I felt as though I was staying at my favourite aunt's instead of a faceless hotel. At breakfast, ingredients were fresh, local and delicious. I would absolutely stay here again.
