Traditional cosy hotel garni, which has great value for money.

Pros: Good location, 5-7 minutes walk from Weissbad station. There is no grocery shop in this small village so better to buy food before you come. Staffs are all friendly and kind and breakfast is wonderful, because a bakery shop is inside the hotel and you can buy sweets in the evening, too. The room is simple but practical and cleaned every day. Shower looks new and hot water comes anytime. They kept my rucksack after check out. I enjoyed my stay and would like to stay again, thank you! From 3 overnights in this hotel you can get Appenzell holiday card, which includes all public transport, 3 mountain cable cars, entry of many museums and sports facility etc… very generous offer!

Good stay over for serious hiking

Pros: Nicely situated within 200 mtrs from train and bus station. Train to Cablecar at Ebenalp, train to cablecar Kronberg and bus to cablecar Hohenkasten nearby. Free card voor 3 cablecars and train and musea in Appenzell etc upon 3 day stay. Good breakfast. Great coffee. Very friendly staff. Nicely priced

Cons: Unfortunately no tv set. But hey, gives you ample time to read that book you planned for weeks .. Not much to do in small village

Pros: Great location, very clean and simple accommodation. Breakfast was great. Easy walking distance to train.

Perfect basic accommodation. No frills just clean comfortable and most importantly friendly.

Pros: Very personable. Nothing I didn’t need but had everything I did.

Overall good place to stay with few things to note

Pros: Good location to explore surroundings, clean and renovated room. Pleasant staff.

Cons: - For other travellers to note that property is next to the train line and railway barier. So it is quite noisy. Especially when during summer, opening the windows is the only way how to ventilate and cool the room. - The breakfast was very minimal and there were no vegetables.

Pros: Great quality for price. Room was simple but very clean and comfy. Staff was lovely and very helpful. I also had questions ahead of travel and they answered them all promptly. Breakfast was everything I could have wanted to prepare me for a lond day hiking.

Cons: It's close to the railway - not a problem for me as I went in May and it was too cold to keep the windows open at night but it's quite noisy when they are.

Cons: There’s no many places to eat around so I recommend to reserve dinner in the same place.

Enjoyable

Pros: Good location, beside road and near train station. Description indicates that it has a restaurant, but this is now closed. However there are some eating places nearby, which were good. (we tried 3 of them). Breakfast was good, although I would have liked a better selection of meat. Stayed for 3 nights and received a travel pass for local area, which was great.

Cons: Wifi signal in our room, which was at end of corridor, was poor.

Clean, affordable, good breakfast

Pros: Affordable option in the Appenzell area to access key hikes (Hoher Kasten, Saxer Lücke, Schäfler, Ascher etc). Included breakfast was great and included bread rolls, spreads, ham and cheese, yoghurt, cereal, fruit and coffee. Whole place was very clean and lovely staff.

Cons: No grocery store in town and not many dinner options in the area - transited in to Appenzell each evening.
