Fantastic Stay

Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Adler hotel. The best thing about it is that the care taken by the family running the hotel. Their recommendations were excellent. We enjoyed the Cheese fondue made especially for us on request in their fondue cellar and loved the experience. The facilities were very clean and nice. The icing on the cake the care and warmth offered by the family. Thank you very much.

Pros: Lovely place to stay. Not part of the hotel, but the restaurant downstairs has amazing food.

Cons: Price. But everywhere in Switzerland is pricey.

Pros: This is a lovely charming, historical hotel, with modernized facilities. It is conveniently located close to the train station and the old town. Our room was a good size, with a fan and a balcony looking over the quiet area behind the hotel. We were welcomed warmly and provided with great information on hiking and exploring the old town. There are some hiking poles at reception to borrow, which were appreciated on some of our hikes. The hotel ensured we received our Appenzell Tourist Card (3 night stay required) ahead of arrival, which was very useful for treats and transportation in the area.

Cons: It is not a reflection on the hotel, but Appenzell is a small, traditional town, which is part of its charm, but as a result many shops close Sunday/Monday and early, which made shopping in town a bit of a challenge since we were out hiking all day. Just plan accordingly.

Pros: My brother and I had a fantastic stay at the Adler Hotel and we loved every minute. Super clean, hospitable and enjoyable. The team, including the warm cafe staff, made us welcome from the moment we arrived. A special thanks to Matjaz - an incredible host who really went the extra mile to make our stay so memorable. We really appreciated your excellent local insights and tips to make the very most of our time. 10/10 - we look forward to seeing you again!

Cons: Nothing disappointed us! Great all round.

Pros: Lovely old hotel, but with modernised rooms. We arrived quite late, and they left our room key with a hand written personal post card.

Cons: The rooms were quite hot, but we were able to open the terrace door and windows which cooled down the room.

Comfortable and convenient, with a good breakfast and helpful staff.

Pros: Good location, the staff were helpful and a nice breakfast. Would gladly go back.

A memorable stay in Switzerland

Pros: We loved everything about our stay. The suite that we lived in was very large, enough for the 3 of us. It had a piano that my son enjoyed playing as well. The family owners and staff were the most hospitable, ensuring that we had a very memorable experience. We were also provided with a portable air conditioner in case it got warmer. We had stayed 3 nights, so enjoyed a special tourist card with free transport, cable car rides, cheese factory entry, and many discounts. We also were given free transport from the airport to the town.

Pros: The service was brilliant, everyone was very kind and welcoming. Our bedroom had the most comfortable bed and the shower in the bathroom was very powerful. The room was cleaned to a very high standard and the toiletries were really lovely. Our bedroom looked out over the restaurant and we left our window open during the night to hear the water flowing I'm the river opposite. Appenzell itself is so pretty and everyone is very proud both of the hotel and the local area. Breakfast was also delicious. We would come back Thank you so much for looking after us
