Villa Bergruh

Pros: It’s a cozy room at a villa with a nostalgic touch. Close to St Gallen station. I took a tram to cut short the uphill roads.

Cons: The light in the room was quite dim.

Pros: The walk up the drive felt like a fairytale manor. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. It truly felt like a home more than a hostel.

Cons: I have no complaints except that the floor was creaky.

Pros: For the very affordable price compared to most other accommodations in St. Gallan this deserves 8/10. The location is great, less than 5 minutes from the main train station. I've read a lot of comments regarding the steps up to the place but after the 1st set take a right and walk up the hill and then take a left and the accommodation is there, no need to take the more tough 2nd set of steps. The old town is about 10-12 walk from the property. The room was big and the bed comfy. I didn't meet the owners but communication was clear and easy to access the lockbox to retrieve the key.

Cons: The trade off on such affordable property there are downsides. I read a lot of reviews regarding the noise in the common areas due to the wooden floors. Although I could definitely hear it, it didn't put me off and during the night it was quite but it is something to be conscious of if you are a light sleeper. Not sure if it was my fault but I couldn't open the front door from the inside and ended up having to go down to the basement and leave through another door, if the front door can be opened from the inside then it is not easy. Leaving the property when it is dark, you need to be sure of your footing as there is no lighting, the light only came on when you entered the property.

Beautiful magical place!

Pros: Amazing place, that has this magical vibe, starting from climbing short path under the trees to enter the villa. I absolutely loved the atmosphere, beautiful ambiance and comfortable room. Really recommend!

Perfect for conference stay or exploring city

Pros: Small bedroom with desk, perfect for conference stat. 15 mns walk from the university. No noise insulation but the other tenants were quiet and respectful. Shared bathroom and kitchen.

Pros: Really different from your normal hotel /apartment. I came during the women's football in the summer but I would love to come in the winter in the snow. Kitchen was great I normally don't like shared bathrooms but low number of other rooms meant this really wasn't a problem. Easy instructions to find property. I would stay again

Cons: I gave a medium review on the hosts as I didn't meet them but they run a good venue. The dreaded steps but as others have pointed out either take the winding road after the first flight of steps. From further in the city the road comes out and it just a gentle uphill stroll then. It wouldn't put me off returning.

Amazing hotel, fantastic location.

Pros: Gorgeous location. Lots of facilities, even a bbq if you want to use it. Shower was nice as was toilet and room had a basin which was great. Shared lounge had free coffee which was very nice.

Cons: Hard to get in contact with staff at times

Very charming room

Pros: The room is very charming and cute, and good value compared to other places in Switzerland. It’s a big room with a great view of the town and surrounding trees

Cons: The stairs to the attic room are very steep and the toilet is quite far away if you need it in the middle of the night. The wifi was also a bit patchy.

Lovely budget friendly St Gallen stay

Pros: Lovely spacious room with handy refrigerator fancilities

Cons: Very noisy communal corridor

Pros: Villa is very close to the Main Train Station which is very convenient. Villa is beuatiful, like from a fairytale. It has a great atmosphere of Victorian England. Room was very comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom are very nice
