All in all, this clean, convenient hotel met my needs well.

Pros: My stay here was totally satisfying! The whole accommodation was super clean, which made me feel really comfortable throughout my trip. The kitchen had all the useful appliances I needed—dishwasher, fridge, microwave and stovetop—so it was super convenient to fix simple meals. Check-in was fully self-service, no need to wait around, which gave me a lot of freedom. One big plus: if you stay for 3 consecutive days, you can apply to the tourism bureau for reimbursement of your round-trip ticket costs. Highly recommend!

Pros: Every bit of Alte Metzg is beautiful (and so clean!). The bedroom was perfect with it's much appreciated fan, the living space was spacious with a great selection of books, the kitchen had everything you could imagine! The terrace was perfect for summer evening dinners with the mountains in the distance looking over you. The Appenzel tourist card was also a game changer, allowing us to get free transport from Zurich to the Appenzell, as well as the trains and cable cars all around the area. Switzerland may be expensive, but this place made it so affordable. I would 100% recommend staying here for at least 3 nights to get the free pass to stay and explore this glorious location. I wish we had stayed for longer!

Pros: Beautifully renovated, very clean, and location is amazing! The common use of the large kitchen, living room and patio was great, we shared with a large family who occupied multiple rooms, and everyone was friendly and respectful. We loved our stay at Alte Metzg more than at other hotels on our travels!

Amazing hotel with cool desing and sauna, want to come back

Pros: Amazing apartment with a perfectly planned and well-designed interior. We booked a double room, the big and comfy bathroom was on the floor, also there was a sauna in the apartment! I had nice relaxing time reading in the living room with Biblioteck, eating breakfast at the dining room and looking in the fully equipped kitchen. 5 minutes walk from the city centre, 10 min to the train station.

Pros: There was a big livingroom and a big kitchen with everything you need! Our room was very charming and perfectly clean. Mrs. Breitenmoser is a really great host.
